I just picked up a CVA Scout V2 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Does anyone on this site hunt with a 6.5 Creedmoor in a speciety pistol?

How do you like it in a pistol? What loads do you use for deer? This gun has a 14 inch barrel, what will the ballistics look like.

Wow, I didn't know CVA offered a 6.5. Everyone seems impressed by the quality of the Scout pistols. They ought to sell a bunch, given the current popularity of the Creedmoor.

Mule deer at 265 yards, 140 A-Max, and he went down immediately.
Same with a couple of does.
Mine is a 15.75" barrel. This is a light load, but it is accurate.

Bullets that will work: NBT, Accu-Bonds, A-max, ELD-M, and ELD-X are bullets I have used for whitetail, mule deer, antelope, and a couple of elk

CVA has stopped making the Scout pistol and I read a few days ago that they only made a short special run in the 6.5 creedmoor so I jumped on this one.

You did well. I know it will be a shooter. I did not know that CVA ever offered anything bigger than the 243 in the Scout Pistol.
I have a 260 Remington Encore which will be very comparable to the 6.5 Creedmoor Scout. It is a very impressive barrel. With a Rifle scope with target knobs and a Drop Chart you should be able to reach out and touch things rifle shooters will be impressed with.

I have always felt that CVA really messed up not offering a 260 or 6.5 Creedmoor, 7-08, 308, and 358 in the Scout. The 357 Magnum should have been a 357 Maximum also.

While I am on a "should have" roll, A quality wood grip, and a wood carbine forend would have been a big improvement also.

They got all the rest of it right. Good Trigger and Quality Construction, and a very good Quality Barrel.

I mentioned the 6.5 Scout to my local gun shop owner today, and found out he has 5 on order that should be in around weekend.
He got in several 243 Scouts probably a month ago, and has sold them all already.

Now if CVA would make a limited run of 7-08's and 308's like they should have done to start with.

I dropped by Double R Pawn in Houston Missouri today. He has either 5 or 6 of the CVA Scouts now in stock, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.
I found out something else that I did not know. The Barrel is threaded with a Muzzle Thread Protector provided. I am not sure what the thread size is yet. That might be important when getting a Muzzle Brake rounded up. I am sure the 6.5 Creedmoor will be much more pleasant to shoot with a good muzzle brake installed.
