"Handguns Do It All" is on the back cover of Mark Hampton's new book, Handgun Hunting, but it is testament to his many accomplishments. Mark has drawn from a wealth of first hand experience to produce a most comprehensive book on handgun hunting. Hampton's book is not a reloading manual or a catalog of guns; instead it is an invaluable resource for beginners, answering many questions on hunting tactics, choice of bullet, caliber, and firearm for any game anywhere on earth. Experienced handgunners interested in taking on a new challenge will find insights into hunting that only someone who has been there - done that can provide. Planning a handgun hunt for something like Grizzly, Elephant, or Buffalo, you won't find many people to talk with who have experience in such matters. Mark has got it covered. He takes the reader on hunts to Africa, Alaska, the high mountains of Asia, and everywhere in between.

    Review by Randy Miller

A Practical Guide for Long-Range Pistol Enthusiasts

I first heard of this book on Ron Sabo's web sight. Always the one to search out resources to better my accuracy, I eagerly ordered it. I was not disappointed.

It starts out by giving a history of what he considers LRPs (Long-Range Pistols) which includes the XP100, T/C Contender, T/C Encore, Savage Striker, Lone Eagle, and wheel guns, just to name a few. He goes into an elaborate history of each and tests that he has personally performed. It even has information when a particular XP100 was manufactured by serial number.

The second part covers detailed brass preparation and bullet coating.

Third part covers detailed traces (detailed ballistics on each caliber/handgun he has tested).

Fourth part goes into hunting with your LRP.

Part Five covers Equipment and Methodology. This area covers equipment for the range and gaming fields, the fundamentals of grip tension, and felt recoil. He briefly goes over the effectiveness of muzzle brakes/recoil reducers.

In summary this is a must have for any serious handgunner. Just the chapter on case preparation and reloading is worth the money. This book will assist you in tightening up your groups no matter what your shooting, be it benchrest or in the field.
