Doe with the 454

Description: First shot was a little off, hitting foward of the shoulder and clipping the heart, but after a 150 yard track I caught up with her and ended it. The next three shots were from about 70 yards, and three of the xtp mag bullets failed. Two blew up after hitting the shoulder, and one came apart on the ribs and intestines. I'll be using swift next year. Load was 31 grains of 296 and the 300 grain xtp mag bullets. Velocity is unknown.

WTG! Good recovery! You may want to look at some Speer bullets as well.

Congrats! I dig the tenacity. I'm using Speer Deepcurl and love them so far.

Swift is tougher for the big stuff and penetrate as deep as ive ever seen an expandable penetrate. The speer are good bullets and while not as tough they are 1/2 the price.

That's awful close to the load I'm using...like 1/2 a grain off close. Nice doe and recovery. Season is still in here but lots of time to do some testing before next year.

Way to stick with it. I am a bit surprised the Mag XTP's would blow up. Wonder what speed they are running.

Congrats! I'm also surprised at the performance of the XTP Mags. They've worked well for me.

This sort of confirms what we have been seeing lately from the XTPs. I personally wouldn't use them on anything larger than whitetail. That said, congratulations on the deer kill!
