First handgun buck with my Contender 30-30.

Description: I had been finding a lot of rubs in a natural funnel. Decided to set up shop and see if the buck would make a mistake. Arrived at 730am, and got a shot at 740am while on the way to my ground blind. Federal 150gr FP dropped him like a rock.

Congratulations! Not bad for a 10 minute hunt!

Nice buck! I am getting a contender with 14 inch barrel in 30-30 for Christmas and plan to hunt with it next year. Do you know what the velocity is with that load out of your gun?

Also what part of Georgia are you from? I lived in Augusta for nine years and hunted in Briar Creek Hunting club while living there.

Awesome! Don't you just love it when the deer cooperate so well?

I live in the NW part of Georgia. I have never run the factory loads over a chrono to see what I'm getting out of my 14" barrel. That load shot well at 100 yards and can be found at almost any sporting goods store. So I just went with it. I can chrono them this weekend and let you know. And thanks everyone. I was almost in a panic about hunting season because of shoulder surgery. I really wasn't expecting much this year. Glad I took the Contender and got out of the house.

Did you ever get around to checking the velocity of those Federal 150 gr loads?
