Utah cow elk

Description: Double lunged with a 200 grain Leverevolution from my 35 Rem Contender. The shot was about 60 yards. She walked about 20 yards in a semi circle, got sick, dropped her head, then fell over dead. She weighed approx. 570 lbs.

Outstanding! Did the bullet exit? I've been extremely curious as to how that bullet would perform out if the shorter Contender barrel. The question being whether it would expand or not at the lower velocities.

And insight would be appreciated.

Zee, the bullet exited after striking a rib on each side and leaving a 1 1/4 hole straight through. The lungs weren't particularly bruised or hemmoraged. This is a hard bullet at a M.V. of 1960 fps. After shooting a few animals with the Hornady, I think a hunter is better served by a 200 grain RN for deer sized game. I selected this bullet for its accuracy and downrange numbers. If I could have known the shot would only be 60 yards, I would have used my favorite 35 load, the Federal 200 gr hi-shok. Bottom line- the elk didn't complain, it fell dead.

Thanks much for the info!!!! That's pretty much what I anticipated and you has validated that for me.

Greatly appreciated and thanks for the RN recommendation. I have them on backorder as we speak.
