Colorado Shiras Moose - My Dream Hunt

Description: A moose hunt has been my dream since I was a kid, but I have yet to draw the license. I ran across this bull in the Vasquez Wilderness here in Colorado while elk hunting last fall. His palms are not that big, but his body is the biggest I have seen on a shiras. He was hanging out with two other bulls that looked tiny next to him.

Some people just dream of having photo ops like that one. Great shoot!

Pab1, Thats exactly the same way I got into the hunting of a Shiras moose. I was hunting elk and wound up taking a 5x5 with my rifle (thats another story).
However, while I was elk hunting I kept running into these excellent animals so when I had enough money I booked the hunt. That sure is a big bodied moose.

Thanks guys! The moose were thick in there last year. A cow moose with her calf were hanging out at 12,000' elevation. I had never seen moose that high up before. Also found a plane crash site and the skeleton of a horse that died on that hunt. I'd like to know the stories behind those two.

That would be an awesome hunt indeed! I have done a little bit of research on Shiras moose hunting here in the states though, and the outlook for getting drawn is bleak! oh well, can't get a tag without trying though! that must've been cool finding the plane wreckage!
