I love looking at the country around you. Great job! Is that chambering any different from the 7/30?

dhom, Yes it's different. Longer neck and a little less case capacity based on the 30-30 case. Elgin Gates designed it for shooting steel and rechambered 7mm TCU fact barrels. Mine is a tack driver with ballistics similar to most other wildcats in it's class plus you can find em cheep. I paid $150.00 for mine with redding 3 die set. Hope that helps.

Nice job, Ellis! You said Pikes Peak, are you in Colorado?

We used to go up above Silver Dollar Lake near Georgetown but now there are so many hikers plus they closed the access road, haven't done that for a while.

And guess what else. The DOW reclassified them as a small game animal and made a season on them and they have to be kept for human consumption.

Greg, I'm down here by Guffey doin my thing. Pikes peak has gotten the same way but I've heard about better areas over by Buena Vista so I'll probably try them next. I grew up in the backwoods of Pa so eating varmints is second nature lol!

I think we might be neighbors. I've run more than a few medical calls on the peak. Funny how that lack of O2 messy with you. I used to chase woodchucks all over central PA. I never did chase their western cousins. I got a little 17ahornet that would make the perfect pack companion.

Gunslinger, just read your post. Yuck! I've sent hundreds off chucks to the promised land never thought to eat one! I'll stick with SPAM.
