Accurate, Deadly, Dependable

Description: Hornady is right. This is a tough bullet. 44 Mag, expanded/recovered 400 gr. XTP (475), & loaded 475/350 Rem. This bullet was traveling at a muzzle velocity of 1,837 fps. The XTP held together wonderfully. So much for this "handgun bullet" falling apart at increased velocities.

Hog hammer! Excellent performance and weight retention out of the XTP-Mag...now if only my Linebaugh could push them that fast!

Guess I'll have to stick with them in the 475JDJ to keep the velocity up there.

That sure is a powerful big game wildcat for single shot handguns that looks as good or better then the big bore single shot rounds in existence today....

That's a mean looking piece of ammo! I haven't finished looking at all the pics so you may have mentioned it somewhere but did you happen to weigh the slug and see what the weight retention was? Looks to be pretty high....

Glenn, it retained 386 of the original 400 gr.'s. The internal damage that this bullet did on the feral boar was very impressive.

I figured it was high from the looks of it. That's pretty impressive but its also the reason that they almost act like a solid from the 475, I always wondered what speed they needed to go to mushroom like that, I guess now we know Smile

Wow! That thing looks like a mini-artillery round!

Kim, ballistics are almost identical to the 470 Turnbull

XTP Mag bullets are among the toughest available commercially. Is the parent case a .350 Rem?

Yes Sir. It is a 350 Remington Magnum case blown out straight. From beginning to end the case goes through 5 stages, an easier solution would be to use the Hornady Basic Belted Magnum case & cut to length. I don't know of anyone else that chambers this round. It is a handful to say the least.

That looks as if it would work ok in a nice short actioned bolt gun!
