FA M97 Hog

Description: Took this hog on a hunt in Texas this week. My son and I endured the 105* heat to hunt hogs and ram. I didn't get a ram, but got this 150lb'ish hog with the 45 Colt. I was using a 250gr XTP over 20.5 grs of 2400. Shot was 45 yards and complete penetration through front of both shoulders and spine.

that 250 X.T.P. is one bad bullet,I shoot that in my Casull ,its only doing 1520f.p.s. but that's all I need for whitetails ,it shoots through them and leaves a nasty hole in and out!

Thanks, gentlemen! I was hoping for a decent sized pig to test the little M97. This load/gun combo is what I intend to use on my Maine black bear hunt next fall. I think this combo should be good medicine....time will tell.

Is that 97 pretty snappy with that load? I was amazed when I seen a 97 beside a Ruger single six. Didn't realize the 97 was that compact. Should be a joy to carry?
