1st and only pig to date...

Description: James' thread about serious pig hunter got me to looking for this pic. I took this pig back in 2004 while hunting Axis deer in TX. It was about a 70 yard shot (after a long stalk) with a T/C Encore chambered in 308 Win. I was shoot'n 125 gr. NBT's over a max charge of W748. With a quartering away shot, I tucked the round just behind the right leg. Piggy didn't know what hit him; DRT!

Cfish2, I wish! I killed this pig at the final hour of my hunt. After retrieval and getting it to the skinning rack, I had 30 mins before I had to hit the road and was running low on cooler space. One of the ranch hand's brother was wanting one , so I donated it to him. It was too hot for me to chance getting it home (98*).

Some of the public lands around my neck of the woods have 'em, but they're hunted so heavily with dogs, it's very hard to hunt 'em without dogs. Baiting is illegal in MS, so hunting without dogs is very unproductive. Also, the laws for hunting them is not favorable. During any open hunting season, it's legal to hunt 'em with the legal weapon for that season. During the off season, they can only be hunted with 22lr or shotgun with no larger than No.6 shot.

Great pig!! The laws are the same in Arkansas but only as it pertains to public land. On private land you can use whatever you want and whenever you want. They are very over populated here and the AGFC wants hunters to shoot them on sight. Matter of fact a friend and myself are going on a 2 day hunt on his lease land this week.

Those little 125 gr. BT's are good little bullets.
