The 338 Fed is has turned out to be shooter. After two Saturday range sessions, I am getting wonderful accuracy with handloads using Nosler’s 180gr Accubond moving at almost 2500 fps. Recoil is manageable, I would say comparable to shooting my 308 loaded up with a heavy projectile with a max powder charge.

I have to say the down side is just the cost of the Noslers. LOL I went through 45 bullets finding a load the barrel liked and I was being conservative. My next project with this barrel will be to find a cast load it likes. I have a 200gr Ranch Dog, a bullet designed for hunting with a 73% profile flat point, and a Lee 220gr RN. I REALLY want to find a nice hog to test a cast bullet out with this one… … …

Its not a 338-06, but it is very respectful and has a lot less recoil.
