.500 Linebaugh meets the Bride of Bullwinkle

Description: Last Monday in Maine, I shot this cow moose with my .500 Linebaugh. First shot was in the 100 yard or better range, during the last couple of minutes of legal shooting light. Gotta love that Ultradot!

Thanks, Gary! 629-lbs dressed. LOTS of steak! When we tagged and weighed her, the Fish & Game rep told me she should have weighed close to or around 800-lbs on the hoof. But what do I know. I know that she was bigger than my wife's car!

How do you have the 500 LB sighted in? I assume that there was some "drop" to be figured in on those 100 yard plus shots? At any rate, that's some might fine shootin'....congratulations Whitworth!!!

I have it sighted in nearly 2-inches high at 50 yards (I normally zero them at around 75-yards) and when shooting the chicken silouette at 100 yards, I just hold at the top. I don't know how many inches the drop is, as I only had two practice sessions (with this load and the Ultradot) a couple of weeks before this hunt, so I am still wringing it out.

Thanks, Darrell!

Thanks, KRal! Yeah, jacketed! That .510 absolutely NEEDS expansion as it just isn't big enough -- LOL!

I made this post before I seen your other pic...lol What shot angle did you have? You need to write a story for the article gallery on this one; it should be interesting.
