Way to go John! I started seriously & soley hunting with a handgun about three years ago. I only shot one deer (doe) with it but, what a challenge! I was excited with her I can only imagine how you felt! Keep it up! that cartridge has got to be the best all-around revolver cartridge ever made! What load did you use?

I've always hunted small game and varmints with my pistols in Illinois and when Dick Metcalf and others got the DNR to let handguns be used for deer,my brother and I both put up our 12 gauge slug guns and never looked back.My dad killed his first doe with his RH in .44 mag last year at a tad over 150 yards. She ran 50 yards and went down.I think we have him hooked with his .44 now as he always used his .357.I'll post the picture soon.

sixgunner454,I've been loading the Hornady 250gr.X.T.P. over a dose of H110-33.9 gr. witha C.C.I. 400 primer,it clocks 1520+f.p.s. out of my SRH 7 1/2 barrel-Hornady techs said not to push this bullet over 1600f.p.s. as it erodes the forcing cone.Thats why they introduced the 240gr.X.T.P. mag bullet, it can be pushed over 2000f.p.s. I noticed that in the Speer #11 manual, they've got their 200 gr. hollowpoint loaded up to 2113 f.p.s.,I bet that would really knock a whitetail down!
