Thats a nice pronghorn.....I recently bought a 6.5JDJ barrel and are new to this cartridge. What bullets and powders do you favor??

James, I have been in TX with Gary over the weekend and am now getting caught up on stuff including seeing your post on Joe's loads for his 6.5 JDJ Contender.



I reload for my son so here is the info on the loads:


The bullet that Bob Good recommended to me all those many many years ago for the 6.5 was the Speer 120 grain. And that is all that gun has ever seen and it has killed many many deer and coyotes and boat loads of antelope as Joe and I have both used it extensively.


For powders, again Bob Good's recomendation was 34 gr. of IMR 4320 for hunting and a few grains less when fireforming from the .225 Winchester brass.


That load shoots 1" or less at 100 yards and the game goes down hard when hit so I have felt little need to explore other loads.
