Really unique setup....I have a .38 Super that might benifit with a scope. Who is the maker of the grip mount??? How did the .17 perform? JFS

JFS: Aimtech, available from Brownells, 1911 catalog #4, item #017-245-001DE. The .17 Mach 2 is wonderful, and in this package it was truly a BBLLAASSTT!!
Sending you PM.

James, I do not know if my PM went through so here it is, better to share with all anyway.

Since this scope base mounts on the FRAME, and the slide and barrel are independent of the frame and there is movement between them, you may find as I did that the accuracy in my gun was disappointing due to the PLAY of tolerances between the frame and slide and barrel. In order for this set-up to work for good accuracy, the tolerances between the 3 would have to be pretty perfect ie. close to zero. This in no way is meant to detract from the Aimtech mount itself, it's design and fit are excellent. Rather, it is the stacking of tolerances (ie. movement) between the frame, slide and barrel that lend to the quirks of inaccuracy as I described...

BUT, it truthfully was a BLAST to shoot, and accuracy was ok for tin cans at 25 yards.

Thank you James. I'm just glad to share my experiences and hopefully help my fellow handgun hunters.
