This exit wound on this pig was massive in some respects. It turned the inside to mush. The hydrostatic shock created, and plus that opening did the trick. The pig expired after running only about 30yds, after being shot.
I do prefer to hit an animal in the vitals or a neck shot OR,, a shoulder shot to anchor it DRT. But I have to admit that my shooting is not always the best and not all animals give us the perfect "Textbook shot" This one did give me a wonderful offering, of being still long enough and also in the right position.
My shot was close enough in this case.
