It appears that the Federal Govt has delisted the imported Canadian wolves. Sooo word has it that some states will be establishing hunting seasons.

Ok. Say you were going to hunt wolves. What handgun caliber would you use?

Myself,I'd probably use the .375 JDJ with the 220 grain flat point. Or the ubiquitous 30-06 with a 165 grain bullet out of the Encore.

So.What would you use?

I'd use my Encore with the 243 barrel and a 75gr V-Max. Shoots flat and should do a good job on a wolf.

Well, that's good news. Wonder how that got snuck by the huggers. I recently picked up a Striker 510 in .243 I am going to rebarrel in .358 Winny for a brushwacker, now I got a reason to hang on the the .243 tube. Although I've had 'em within SBH .41 distance on many occasions.

I would use my S&W PC .460. Should I go to the store and buy something better for wolves?

The yuppie tree huggers say they're going to court to try to stop the de-listing. That aside, any black bear gun will work. I'd opt for a longer shooting scoped single shot in the .308 class. Possibly a .44 Mag. class revolver as a sidearm, but that would be " just because...."

I have been thinking about this question. I think I have about 30 firearms. I figure I have about 30 firearms to hunt wolves with. I guess a 22 would work just fine with me. I can shoot it in the head. A 12 ga is great for fur bearing animals because it doesn’t tear up the hide like a 7mm Mag will.

It doesn't take much to kill one, they are just a big dog.

I guess what I am saying is that I am not going to be hunting them, HOWEVER, I don’t think I would pass on a shot of opportunity if I just happen to hunting with whatever I happen to be holding. The range would be determining factor in if I shot or not corresponding with the firearms capability.
