I have a CVA Pistol I had rechambered to 444 Marlin. The issue I am having is I only ever shoot factory ammo (Hornady Leverevolution) The problem is I cant get consistent expansion from that round from the lower velocity of my handgun.
I have found that Speer makes the Deep Curl Bonded hollow point for .429 240gr and has load data for 444 Marlin using this bullet but I do not reload and dont know anyone who does.
If any of you know someone in the North GA/ South East TN area that could load some of these up I would appreciate it.
I have brass I can provide. Will also pay whatever (within reason) for time and expenses.
Thanks I just found a local reloading shop that said if I provide my own brass and bullet they would have no problem. They have the dies already just not the brass. I think I have what I need.
Which powder should I buy. This is the load data from Speer on the bullet I plan on using. My pistol is 14? with porting. I am guessing I may want a faster burning powder. Also on this data it shows case type. Does this matter all I have is hornady brass and that leaves me with only one option IMR 8208 XBR.
Hodgdon has data for 444 pistol length barrel with the Speer 270 JFP on their website. That powder doesn't make their list. You might want to give it a look. H335 gives fastest velocity, followed closely by H4198, Benchmark and then H322 from a 15" tube.
