.243 is problably ok for deer an antelope, but I like to shoot bullets a little heavier than 100 gr for them and the twist rate of this gun is a bit slow for heavier bullets. Plus I have a real liking for the 6.5 bullets since I have used a 6.5x284 rifle for antelope out to 970 yds.

I understand, just ribbin' ya ;-)

I prefer .284 to .300, and up personally for anything larger than deer or our little black bears here. Nothing wrong with the little 6mm either, as I have seen scores of whitetails taken with it here in MN.
