how many of you use ATV's?....for hunting or recreational riding.

what kind ya got? pics would be cool!

i never had one(48yrs old), until late this fall. i used to ride dirt bikes when i was young and there was LOTS of riding trails nearby. i just assumed that a highway that went thru took most of those trails. there is still a lot of riding trails left! plus it does open a few more hunting opportunities AND i can use one here on the farm.

"back in the day" i had a early 70's rm 250 and a late 70's rm 370 dirt bike. that was before the 4 wheelers of today....lol.

i picked up an older used 2002 350 honda rancher 4x4 this fall. decent bike for cheap, and the hondas are tough. i've got a line on another super deal on a 2011 honda 500 foreman with 417 miles on it in camo. i hope to pick it up at tax time(deal pending)....i hope!
pretty fun way to enjoy the outdoors with the family, if i can get that second one! i took my oldest daughter(home from college for holidays) out on a ride this afternoon. climb some hills n sling some mud....lol.

We been using them for years. Polaris is the local favorite as they build them right here. You can have as much, or more, into a new ATV as a car anymore. They make it a lot easier to drag that critter out of the deep woods.

I don't own any, I think my wife figures I'd just end up in hospital more than I already do
\:\(
I do love to ride them though so maybe one of these years she'll give in and let me buy one but for now you would be surprised where I can get a big 4x4 truck hehehe

Beware.....slight rant ahead!!

If you have your own property or use an ATV for farm chores, that is great. Or if you have a disability and need it to hunt, then do what you need to for continuing enjoyment of the sport as long as you have permission. Remember what I said above and if you fit into the above classification then I'm not talking to you.......'cause I'm about to loose it.

But if you are a lazy arse that can't hike into a stand or are riding on other folks property w/o permission then you are on my poop list!! We have had more property posted around here lately (last 5-10yrs) due to inconsiderate goobers that feel that the "world is their playground" to ride where ever they wish. They have their $10K four wheelers all camo'd up with scabbards and racks like they are trecking across four counties to hunt a remote swamp. Oohhh....they friggin "p" me off. Nothing gets me in a fowl mood more than hearing an ATV coming through the woods and dropping off guys as they go.....makes me wish I had a permit for "disabling" the transportation that inconsiderate lazy goobers ride on!

Rant OVER!!!

Oh.....and the only ATV I have is a 125cc Yamaha Breeze for the kids.

LOL I agree with you, out here there are some good uses for them especially on the east side of the state which is more what the normal hunter thinks of being western hunting. Wide open country to wander and do alot of glassing but then it's time to put on the hiking boots. Unfortunately the past few years those 37" tires have been my hiking boots but hopefully it will be better now. The one nice thing about the west too though is there are literally thousands of miles of atv trails on public lands so there is no reason to be trashing private land. They are also nice for removing critters from bad areas but it's like anything else they can be abused.

Exactly. A few bad apples have ruined many an opportunity.

Nice rig Rod.

i've hunted all my life, and we as hunters do not own the outdoors anymore than any other person does....enjoying life as he wishes. seasons here are nearly 6 months long nowadays. surely a man doesn't expect that the world is gonna clear out of his way just fer him and his needs....lol
;\)

yep....in a deer stand on private property i've cussed(to myself) many a time.
around here, there is a lot of land that is "company owned" i guess we'll call it. there is hunting and riding going on in it all the time, and have been as long as i've been alive. like i said, a hunter owns it no more than the atv riders.

i'd like to see you get your deer out of some of these places....lol. only takes an hr and a half of riding on an atv. wouldn't be much longer to drag....fer a real worker....lol<wink><wink>
