Have any of you used the 45 Cal 240gr XTP MAG in the 454. It's kind of funny the 240 is a Mag and the 250 is a standard but I was curious if anyone had used it what kind of performance you got in the way of velocity and accuracy and if you used it on larger game how it performed?

Rod, I got a partial box with some other bullets I bought and will be trying them in my 45LC on the warm side. Problem is that won't be until spring.

Rod, Will be trying them in my S&W 460. Used the factory 240mag ammo in my 454 to take a boar at 30+yds and it worked OK. Was not as accurate as the 300gr...

That's what I was thinking might be the case, the longer heavier bullets stabilize better out of the big bores but I'm thinking of playing with them in my 454. I wish they made them in 260gr, that seems to be the weight where the 45's start to shine.

Rod, I have used the 240 mag. in both my 454 and 460. The accuracy is outstanding in both guns. In my 454 it will do 1 1/2' or less at 50 yds. in both guns. I shot them into phonebooks at 50 yds. and they expanded great. I have not taken any game with them yet so I can't help you out there. I hope this sheds some light on your question. Good luck. The 250 gr. XTP shoots great in my 454 also.

One and a half FEET does not seem all that accurate, for me.

Do you mean one and a half inches?

LOL yep that info helps guys, I think I'll get a box and try. I'm also going to pick up a box of the FA 260 Harcores and try. It looks like the FA's are showing better velocity but they are also twice the money. I have no problems with spending money for premium bullets if I need too but why spend the money on them if the XTP gets the job done. I'm basicly just trying to squeeze a little more velocity out of the 454 but the 300's are shooting good if the lighter bullets don't.
