Just give thanks to the Lord that you are in the stand hunting!
Amen to that!

Rod, if you ever happen to come across a good deal on a 32 WS lever, holler at me.
I've got a sweet one but it's not for sale. Was my dads. Well used but not abused. It has the flat front barrel band, As I understand it Winchester only did that one year right after WWII to speed production. 1946 maybe?
I love my Marli Guide Gun in 450 Marlin! XS "ghost ring" peep, DRC lever, follower, trigger, XC Scout Mount, 2.5x Burris Scout scope... I could be satisfied with only 2 centerfire firearms (glad I don't have to be though!!!). My Guide Gun & my 7.5" 480 SRH!

My wife is in line to inherit one but other than that I'll keep my eyes open. I still remember about 7 years ago or so I came across two pre 1900 model 94's in 30wcf and I could have had both for 700.00 and they were complete in good condition and shootable. I'm still kicking myself but i was looking for revolvers at the time and wasn't really even considering what I was passing up.

Man it sounds to complicated.... I remember just taking one rifle out and that seemed to do it all.

My pair of woods guns. The lever is an 1895 that was fully done by Wildwest Guns, with a Leupold fixed 2.5, and the FA 83 Packer in 454 you've all seen before. Am planning a second bear hunt this fall out of Talkeetna, waaayyy south of Fairbanks, and will take the Marlin for that one, a lot of brownies in that country.

Briar is that the takedown 1895? I've though of having my 1895SS converted. I also thought about having Turnbull do one of his 475 conversions. I guess I could do it myself but I don't have time to work on my own handguns and rifles aren't my specialty..

No, it's not the takedown. It is a regular stainless Guide Gun that now has the bear-proof ejector, happy trigger kit, WWG ghost ring rear sight, fiber optic front sight, big-loop lever and drilled-and-tapped scout scope mount.

Do it, maybe it's your true calling and you haven't realized it yet.

racksmasher, thanks for the kind words, I do enjoy those two irons greatly. Rod, anyone who can do what you do with a handgun would have no trouble with a rifle.
