Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and I have a question. I have a 45/410 barrel for my contender and I want to mount a reflex sight on the rib. Is there a mount that attaches to the rib of the barrel?Any and all comments will be appreciated.
Thanks,DaveP

Not sure about a rib mount, but if you remove the rib there will be holes to mount a Weaver 92A scope base.

I know burris has a whole line of Fastfire mounts for shotguns, they are primarily designed to go between the stock and receiver but they may have a rib mount design.

I really don't want to remove the rib on the barrel. The rib itself looks pretty beefy. Would it be possible to drill and tap the rib to attach a Weaver type base and the sight mounted on that?
Thanks for the input,
DaveP

There are mounts that clamp on to certain shotgun ribs, this would be a better option than to D&T the rib. I doubt that you could find a Weaver base that would attach solidly to the rib.

JPoint has one for their's:

you would probably have to have a gunsmith or machine shop mill a flat bottomed base to fit rib. Depending on the width of the rib which I can't recall you may want it drilled and tapped for 4-40 instead of the standard 6-48. If you can't find what your looking for I should still have some weaver base blank material on hand and could do this for you.

There ya go Rod. What if one were to mill a notch lengthways down the centerline of a base and then D&T a couple of allen head screws in the side to clamp it to the rib? You might have something there.

I'd have to look at the stock I have again but there should be enough meat to do that if you didn't want to put any holes in the rib.

There is not much out there for this application, so there might be a market. Although I don't know if you could just clamp it tight enough that it wouldn't move on the rib. D&T would be right solid.
