Trying out the camera on my new Blackberry. So I figured I'd post a pic of my field shooting bench in the "Shooters Bench" forum. This was Monday evening, the wind was DEAD CALM....never seen the LR shooting conditions this good at this spot. Surely thought it was the night to break my personal best of 462yds. But the deer had different ideas. I knew where they were hiding across the valley in an island of trees 533yds away but another hunter bumped them out and they crossed the field at a HIGH rate of speed...even thought I heard a sonic boom!!

Oh well, just think of it as your own personal deer drive
Every year on the last Thursday/Friday of the season, a friend and I do just that. He walks the ridge top and through the thickets....he loves to bump deer, which works great for me 'cuz I love to shoot deer!! They will typically run several hundred yards and stand near thickets/bushes in the strip cut and look back. We usually get several deer doing this each year.

Thanks. The tripod is rather lightweight, a little bulky but absolutely rock solid to shoot from. Gonna hit it again today but with snow on the ground!! YAY!
