Ok fellas here I go again, this time Im asking for some help. I picked up a 7mm.08 pistol barrel for my Encore. I took it to the range yesterday just to get a feel for it. After the first rd down range I was hooked out it , it told me "Im what you have been looking for". Ive got a good feeling about this one but I realized after 10 rds it jarred the pistol grip loose.

The help Im looking for is what would be a good scope set up to put on it ? Starting with the base , rings and scope. The scope I was thinking a Burris 2-7x32. The base and rings Im wanting something thats gonna hold up to this beast. Im also afraid that the rifle forearm I have on it is not gonna hold up to it either. So basically Im asking to help me build this beast I guess also since I dont reload at the moment whats a accurate round for it?

If Im asking too much just tell me I cant run with the big dogs and to get back on the porch

While its a great round I would not call it a beast compaired to others. I have one and really like it. Very accurate and easy to shoot well. I recently had trouble with a dura sight base. I put a EGW on it and its great now. Any good ring should be fine. Stay away from the cheapo ones. Scope you mentioned should be fine. As for ammo. I load my own but the 140 corlocks I bought for brass shot well for me. Now 120 NBT is all ill use

The Burris you suggest would be great. I have one on my .300 Savage XP-100. Get it with the Ballistic Plex....though you may not see a need for the BP now, it won't get in your way and you may find it useful later!

Weaver bases have always treated me well. Mount the scope in Burris Signature Zee rings (medium height). That's the same set up I use on my long range XP's and it's never failed.

Grip and forearm....get Pachmyers and be done with it!

Some here have had trouble with the rifle forearm ,breaking or pulling screws thru the wood. For the forearm lighter is better
as it dosen't have the tendancy to break or pull screws. A friend has one in 350 rem.mag and has broken two sets of screws.Suggested he put the ryonite forend back on, and it stopped the problem.

I have big forearms on all of my TC's. 375 H&H AI, 35-06 JDJ, 8mm GNR, 270 Win, and all but the 375 H&H AI have hanger bars. I have run hundreds of rounds threw my H&H and I havent had any problems... With a 7mm-08 you can put anything you want on it.

I have to agree 98.9867452301% with Dan. I just like the high rings. I dont have any problems sticking my thumb between the scope and hammer. In a handgun and shooting under 400 yards, I dont think you will ever tell a differance.

A couple of Bullberrys, 5 sets of Georgia Jims, and one Encore TC standard walnut that was retro fitted to fit a bull barrel with pistol spacing. The 375 is on the edge of being to big for wood. As stated above the 350 is and I know of a 500 max barrel that tore up wood as well. It might also be fare to state that all my barrels that merit breaks wear them. My Encore barrels that dont have breaks are my 22 Hornet and 300 Whisper barrels.

Typing on a phone stinks... ... ...
