KRal,
Did you get a chance to try those MBW bullets yet. I am thinking about ordering some in the LBT WFN 250 & 280, and the RCBS 300 variety to try and see what the 97 (My dad and I were able to nail one down over the holidays) likes. I'm thinking those 280's at 1100 should be perfect (I really want the gun to like that load).

Just trying to research all I can before diving into loading for a new gun. Please keep us apprised.

I did, but the particular one I loaded (250gr WFNGC LBT) didn't shoot well at all. I haven't had time to try any others yet. I have 50 left if you'd like to try them, but my guess is they're not gonna shoot in the M97. The ogive of the bullet it hitting the throats before the round is completely in the chamber; I'm having the same problem with my M83 in 44mag. This is the only thing I can figure is the problem. When you insert a round it stops about 1/8" from case head and you have to push in forcefully with your thumb. It'll shoot about 18"-24" groups at 50 yards.

I have J Points on two M97s --- 45 Colt 5 1/2" & 41 mag 7 1/2". I am still getting used to them but am enjoying learning to shoot them. I removed a scope from the 41 prior to mounting the J Point. Obviously, I was able to shoot more accurately with the scope. The 45 Colt had open sights. I am much better with the dot than I was with the open sights.

However, learning to use the "top of the dot" has allowed me to begin to regularly hit some of the smaller metal targets that I shoot. That 4 moa dot gets pretty big as the distance passes 100 yds.
