In Africa, I used an ajustable bipod because the P.H. was there to carry it.
For hunting alone I tried a couple of different types of rests, but I blew too many chances at shots fiddle-farting around getting set up in spot & stalk situations. I've had better success prone useing my backpack, a tree or just free standing. This years muley I was standing on a barren downslope, so, the only thing to do was to shoot offhand.

I use the Trigger Sticks bipod but have also used the Stoney Point Bi and Tripod, these are the ones that use para cord and fold up. I have half a dozen pairs in both configurations and in the tall and short versions as well as camo and black. I like them since they are light but the tall ones do have alot of flex. I also have other bipods and monopods but so far the trigger sticks are the best I've found.

Considering the variety of answers here, I think the above statement appears to be the best approach.

To that end, I have ordered the "bipod shooting sticks."

Thanks for all the input.
