I did it once on accident on 2 muley doe's using a 257 Ackley Improved, had no idea there was another deer behind the front one.
One of my son's did in once on elk, with his bow! Not only that but the arrow never hit the second elk, true story! He was sitting on one of our waterholes & it was getting late, a herd of elk came in with one very nice bull in the bunch. The cows & calfs went into the water & the bull started walking around the top side of the water hole. These water holes are made by the sheep men & on the low end will have a pretty high dike to hold the water back, this is what the bull was walking on when Marty shot him.
At the shot the bull leaped off the dike & into the water, elk ran in all directions, he waited 15 minutes & it was dark. When he got down he headed for home & got me & one of his brothers & we went back right at daylight. The bull had went about 50 yds & piled up. As we were dressing out the bull we heard something & walked back down to the waterhole & there was a cow with a broken back. The bull had landed on her when he jumped off the dike, breaking her back. My other son had an archery tag & we used it on the cow.
