Has anyone seen this video or heard the audio? The officer interrupts the man when he tries to tell him he has a concealed carry permit. He goes off on him when he attempts to hand him his permit. He tells the man he should have just shot him and would not have missed any sleep over it. He threatens to "put lumps" on the mans passengers if he sees them again that night. This guy needs to be fired. His partner should find a new line of work since he can't bring himself to intervene when his partner threatens to kill the very people they are sworn to protect.

CAUTION: THE OFFICER USES FOUL LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT THE VIDEO!

Last word was that he has been suspended with pay. Power tripper. There are a lot of those in these northern MN small towns. It would be nice if every stop were caught on camera for the world to critique.

There are alot of those everywhere. I personally have no faith whatsoever in our justice system. I've personally been burned and I know others that have been wrongfully burned by the system. The cops are on a power trip and the da's don't care about justice just convictions for their resume's. The funny thing is that most of the guys on here could out shoot 90%+ of law enforcement and they think they are the only ones qualified to have a weapon. I know not all cops are like that but I believe it's the majority and it's getting worst with this new generation of kids going into law enforcement just for the power trip. I can remember when I was about 19 I got caught speeding in a small town and the cop did everything he could to provoke a fight including making it personal with name calling. The little [censored] was only about 5' and 120lbs and when I finally had enough of the insults and stood up from sitting on my tailgate he immediately grabbed his gun.

As a retired police officer I am ashamed of that officer. That stop was deplorable. He gives all of us who proudly wore the badge and served our communities a black eye.

The problem is your from the generation where I'm sure part of the job was excitement but it was also about serving just like those of us who were in the military. There is one big difference between the older police officers and the young ones and that is respect. I have a buddy that used to be on this site and he was the FTO for a sherriffs dept here in OR, he finally had enough and bought a piece of land and built a cabin in the middle of no where. He told me he used tell the young guys you can talk yourself out of a fight as fast as you could talk yourself out, problem is they all wanted to get into an altercation to flex their "muscle". I have a few friends currently in or retired from law enforcement and they all say the same thing, this new generation of guys coming in don't have respect for people and they act like once they have that badge on that they are above the general public, more like they are our keepers and masters instead of our servants. I have/had a friend I used to shoot with and when he decided he wanted to go into law enforcement I helped him with his shooting and weapon selection and even though we were friends once he actually went to the academy and got his badge he changed and although he always says he'll get hold of me to go shooting he never does. I'm not another cop so therefore I'm inferior even though I can outshoot his entire department. Sorry for dragging on and I'm not trying to take anything from those of you that served in law enforcement but like everything else in this world it's changing and unfortunately for the worst.

I think every police officer was young at some point and perhaps a bit pumped up as a result. This officer is over the top, and a clear indication that cops are human and have bad days as well. He did run roughshod over this poor guy which was rather unfortunate.

I worked overseas for years in many not-so-friendly places and earned a healthy respect for the police officers in this great nation of ours. I have been basically shaked down by cops in other countries where corruption was accepted and the norm. I've got news for anyone willing to listen, we have it pretty good here.

I agree we do have it pretty good here, but thats because we don't allow this type of behavior. If you just dismiss his behavior and allow it to happen, eventually we will wind up like those other countries. Threatening to kill a man and assault another person is not just having a bad day. I would be willing to bet that this is not the first time he treated the people he his sworn to protect in this manner. This time a complaint was filed and the video was reviewed. I have worked as a corrections officer for 8 years now in two states and face the most violent people society has to offer on a daily basis, without a weapon. If I behaved like this officer or stood back and did nothing like his partner, I would be out of a job.

Very well said, I agree completely.

Wapitirod, when I took the oath for the Army National Guard in 1976 and for the police department in 1978 I was made aware of the fact that I was going to serve my country and community. Yes, my generation was taught to respect other people. In grade school we began every day with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Being a soldier and policeman were not my jobs: they were callings. There were several veterans on my department. We could see a big difference between us and the college kids who had been raised in politically correct homes and schools.
The officers in that video did everything incorrectly. They appeared to have had no vehicle stop training. It is a miracle that they have survived so long.

I don't want it to seem that I am excusing the behavior or somehow dismissing the behavior of these two officers. How they acted is inexcusable. I was simply saying that this isn't the norm in my opinion or experience.
