I use 7.5gr of HS-6, I've had good luck with it in both my 45ACP and 38spcl loads.

yes, the grains are larger than H110 or W296 it's a dual purpose handgun shotgun powder. I started using it to condense the number of powders I had on hand when I was still loading shot shells.

I use Hodgdon's spherical powder Titegroup. It has replaced Bullseye for me because it burns cleaner. 4.8 grains will produce 855 f.p.s. with a 230 grain lead bullet and 818 f.p.s. with a f.m.j. Both are accurate loads in my 1911's.

by the way if my memory serves correct the load I gave you is a max load. I haven't chrono'd it yet but it's supposed to be a little bit over 1000fps if I remember correctly. If you decide to try it double check the Hodgdon manual.

I still use Bullseye. Picked up 8lbs about 2 years ago at a gun show for half what it was listed for. I use 4.8 to 5.2. It is dirty but still performs and meters well in my Hornady L-N-L.
