If my normal gun cleaners won't remove it, I don't go any further. So I guess...

Kleen Bore has a product called Lead Away that will make your stainless guns look new. A friend just told me about it. All those black marks that I thought were permanent disappeared instantly. Just a quick wipe down and all the black build up is gone. Don't use it on blued guns though.
