So how do you feel that we are now officially on the path to socialism with this f*cked up health bill? I've noticed this is still one of the most overlooked parts of the forumn which I guess means we still have alot of numbnuts that still don't realize we are in trouble. Maybe when they grow a set of balls they will figure it out.

It's gonna be interesting. With all the lawsuits it is bound to go before the SCOTUS, and if it goes before the court, I believe it will be struck down. Regardless, those bastards must pay this fall. This whole ordeal has woken up a lot of America to what is going on tho. I'm not giving up, preach to your friends and and let's boot them out and take back this country in November.

I dont know exactly what is in the bill. I do know that it seems like it was pushed through by a seemingly corrupt situation. The thing that worries me is what they are not talking about. The things that were in the bill that they are talking about are scary enough but the bill was 1000 plus pages long and what is in it that is not out there on the air yet. There has been talk that there were laws in this piece of s#%* that are not part of healthcare. Some of the things in it that were mentioned in my newsletter from the NRA ( I think this is where I read it ) were some more gun laws. If this is true I wonder what else. This country needs to get behind something or someone who will actually stop this Washington bullying and start shutting these corrupt S O Bs down. I dont know that even if the elections this year were a total republican blowout that this could be stopped. Some of the items in this bill went into effect now, then more in 2014, more in 2016 and some of the final steps wont even go into place until 2020. What is in this and who is going to lead us back to the USA.

Chris the bill is actually 2700 pgs and there are alot of things in it that even the senate and congress aren't completely aware of. Congress has subpoenaed(?) several companies including AK Steel, AT&T, and John Deere as they are showing projected losses of 31 million to 1 billion dollars. I did see a group of over 6000 doctors have filed a lawsuit and I too am hopefull that things will change but they never should have gotten this far to begin with.

Here we talk to ourselves, as we all are pretty much in agreement. We need to be talking to others, especially those that do not agree with us or those that are not maintaining an acute level of interest and knowledge on the path that we are taking.

wtroper you are very right and that is one thing I do alot of but here it has become so bad that if you even try to mention anything of a political nature on the other parts of this forum there are a few that will cry and bitch because they see no problem with the way things are going and prefer to live a sheltered life. Here as is in our country we are forced to give into the minority which is why a seperate forum had to be created for anything political including anything to do with gun control issues. Even the petitions that s4s4u is so gracious to supply us with links to are not welcome on the main page.

Someone else will do it!Someone else will do it!That's the problem, someone else will stand up and fight for my right to bear arms,so I don't need to.Someone else will speak up to save the medical system,so I will just wait.Someone else will speak up for my religous beliefs so I won't need to.What if everyone waited on this "someone" at what point do you decide who you are and what you believe and need are important.Go get em Rod.I nominate you for president. My elected officials have me on e-mail to keep me informed. If you aggrevate them enough you'd be surprised at what they will infrom you of,after all they will need your vote.

IMHO, the basic issue addressed herein is Freedom. Freedom is paid for it is not free. Many have paid for our current freedom (if you can call it that) with their blood. Many of us today are willing to do so if the need arises. However, blood is not the only way to pay.
Sweat, tears, hard work, talk, become involved, get out & let yourself be heard, join, use your $$$$ ---- all are material ways to "pay." The apathy that exists today is difficult to understand. The "vocal minority" has control of this country. If we become a more vocal minority (or even a majority) things will change. But we need to access prime time TV shows. Unfortunately, for the majority in this country the boob tube is their source of information. Hollywood types & politicians get more chance at telling their side in prime time than we do.

I am concerned that getting out and talking to people and addressing our political leaders localy does not work. I dont want to get off the subject but my example is as follows. In Colorado our great state decided to put another tax on soft drinks to help with the states deficit. I work for Pepsi and every employee in our state aswell as family members wrote letters to our senators. Coca Cola, JC Penny, and many many other companies aswell as tons of local businesses and individual people wrote two senators each and I dont know how many thousands of letters were written but it was a lot. Guess what, it did not matter and the bill for the tax was passed with flying colors. I know this is different and just local but how different is it?

Chris,
If all of those people who wrote letters along with others who did not remember at the polls, someone will hear. In your particular example, the legislature was facing an issue about raising additional money. Who are they to collect if from? Higher tax on the high income folks? Tax on those who drink soft drinks? How about more tax on tobacco or alcohol? Maybe just an increase in the state sales tax rate? No solution to there problem is without offending someone ----- except maybe by spending less --- which is an idea that is foriegn to most of them.
They, like us, are not faced with problems for which there is an easy and simple solution. However, if we stick together and make ourselves heard in the correct way (not coming off as a bunch of radicals), a few can swing a big weight in a democracy such as ours. Most do nothing. Thus, if you do something, you are having an disproportionate affect for your efforts.
