I made the sticks out of arrows and flexible rubber hose and they are the best sticks for setting on the ground I have used. What better way to use some old arrows! They fall naturally in place and with field tips on the ends they bite the ground. The rubber tubing also protects the gun! GREAT IDEA TIGGER!

I also use the stoney point bipod and tripod. Before I got busted up I'd carry the steady stix in my back pocket when I was hiking. The bipod and tripod aren't as convenient when your hiking. I also have a Cabela's monopod I'll use sometimes as it also works as a walking stick.

TIGGER is a genius. The aluminum arrows and gas line shooting sticks are the bees knees! They take about 45 seconds to make, weigh next to nothing, are easy to adjust for height if you are actually sitting, and they provide as solid a rest as anything else I have tried. It is just to cheap and easy not to try them.

Muddydog and nuclearweasel, THANKS! Glad I could help out. I'm just a country bumpkin that looks at a $100.00 item and tries to figure out a $1.98 home made version, and maybe even improve it.

I carry shootiing stick but usually end up leaning against a tree (we have LOTS of those in PA and they are free!!).

For taking youth hunters I bought a Stoney Point Polecat bipod then added the third leg. Got it in a Cabela's Bargain Cave for about 1/3 of regular price. This allows them to get steady w/o having to hold the Bipod up. It also helps if they need a follow up shot and lift the gun from the rest.....a bipod will fall over but the tripod stays upright.
