I would like some opinions on what you guys are using for hunting as far as a scope? I have an encore with 18" barrel in a 460. I need something that can handle the shock, and stay in tune. The base I am using will be a 4 hole which was the only one I could get with the custom barrel from MGM. I also would like to know the powers you are using wheather fixed or variable? This pistol is all blued with a matte finish, I would like the scope to match.
Thanks again for all your input. The round I will be shooting is the Hornady 200grn., if that matters, I will not be handloading.

I like the Burris 2-7... The best answer I can give you is pick one and shoot it a LOT!!

For my S&W PC .460 10.5" I went with an Aimpoint red dot scope. Great out to 150 yards. My new T/C Pro Hunter .460 w/ 15" SSK will be topped with a Leupold 4X with TSOB rings.

You have chosen damn good ammo for your .460, I might say!

Thank you. I was thinking Leupold, but I just wanted to know if there were any others out there that hold up. The Burris 3200 I hear works well also.
I do believe it is one of the best ammo out on the market, especially if you do not want to reload. I found for $24.00 a box.

I've got a Leupold VX-III 2.5x8 on my PC Hunter - no problems here, once I mounted it in more than 2 rings

????....I think you have come up with a new breed of scope...LOL...the Burris scopes have served me well over the years. I've owned several 2x7's and 2x's. Have just recently acquired a 3x12. Haven't shot it yet, but I like it so far.
As far as the Bushnell 3200, I've never owned one, but have looked through and shot one. I personaly liked the Burris 2x7 better because of the FOV.

Sorry brain fart early in the morning. The Burris is what I ment. Do you think it will hold up to the shock? Mainly for hunting hear in the midwest, and out west for Elk.
Thanks.

I prefer Leupold 4X. I have seen them tolerate 500 S&Ws, 50 Alaskans, etc.

Lately, I've heard there's been more than a few lemons from Burris. My newest Burris was bought about 6 years ago. I've had mine mounted on 30/30 win, 44mag, and 308win with all loaded stiff. Thousand of rounds under them with no problem. The 460, with full tilt load, will generate more recoil than what I've mentioned. If yours has a brake, it shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't hesitate to put one of the older Burris' on it, but the newer ones...well...it might be a gamble, I don't know. But, Burris does have a lifetime warranty.

I have 3 2-6 3200's and 4 2-7 Burris's. I haven't had any problems with them yet. HOWEVER, just remember that any scope you buy is going to give up the ghost one day. I have a 2-7 Simmons that has been a great scope for over 15 years finny decide that its time was up. LOL
