I finally got to spend some serious range time today with my new Contender in 30-30,and am very happy with the accuracy with factory loads. I got consistent 7/8" 3 shot groups at 100yds with Remington 150gr. Core-lokt ammo. Does anyone have any info on how they will perform on deer with the 14" barrel? Ive killed alot of game with Core-Lokt bullets in rifles,I shoot them because they are readily available, inexspensive, and accurate in my guns. Im just curious about bullet expansion and performance in the shorter hangun barrel.

I've never fired a single round of factory ammo in my 30-30 Contender...so I'm of absolutely NO help!

However, the Core Lockt loads are used by several friends in 30-30's and they should do well for you.

Well the accuracy is there so I guess I will have to field test. Hopefully on some hogs and coyotes during the off season.

Most any RN soft point should work, PSP's and spitzers maybe notsomuch. Depends on what the chrony says.
