As many of you know I just bought a new 77/44 Mag Ruger Rifle so I have had a range day the last two days and this morning I gave up. After about 250 rounds and over 12 different loads from 180gr to 300gr the best this rifle will shoot is about 4" @ 100 yards--- for me that will not cut the mustard. With that said I am thinking on gettting a G2 or a Encore rifle chambered in 44 Mag. I will most likely get the 44 Barrel from MGM I am thinking 22" w/heavy taper for Encore or 20" bull for G2-- DOES ANYONE HAVE A SETUP LIKE THIS??

Last thing I am thinking I will just order a Factory T/C set up with the Bull .223 barrel -- Been wanting one of these anyway.

Any comments on the factory .223 Encore or G2 carbine??

I use to have a Contender in 223... It was a good rig...

Have you tried calling Ruger???

Dan I kinda already got it swaped off. I traded it for a mini 14 NIB Leupold scope and 10 20rd clips and 10 30rd clips and a nice case for the whole sh-bang.

Dan we have traded a few things YOU DON'T WANT THIS GUN.

For some reason that is one gun that I just would like to have.....not sure why. My brother loves the W94AE Trapper guns...he has a .357M and .44M. Both shoot GREAT! The .357M is absolutely AMAZING!!

I just think a .44 bolt gun would be cool. Maybe you killed my dream.....that's ok.

That is the same thought I had I have been waiting about 6 mo. for this gun. Get it last week put the scope on and it shoots like a shotgun. DAMFINO I think I may look for a Marlin 44 Mag lever and leave it open sight.

At least that is the current plan.

If I can get some info on a SS carbine I may go that route.

Before you purchase the Marlin you may want consider the 1-38 twist. I've heard it won't shoot long bullets 280 gr & up. I went with a 45-70 Guide Gun and love it. But I still want a TC carbine in 44 Mag.

I had heard the 77/44's were not the greates shooters. Something about the bolt and so on. I always thought it was a neat offering. Too bad it didn't work out.

The TC should be alot better, and you can always chamber it a little deeper to 445.

H2OBUG,

Sorry to hear you got a "bad" one. On both my 77/44 and 96/44, I insured that the barrel was "floating" on the 77/44 and that the receiver bolt tension was correct. If I can do this, I will attach photos of targets shot at 50 and 100 yards, bullet weights: 240 cast, jacketed, 265 cwfn, 270 Speer. I've had problems loading photos.
