Mgm says they put a Smoke Brake on a Muzzle Loader it has 6 holes
3 on each side.
Does this work or is it more a Pain than its worth ?

It still smokes, but not as much in your line of sight as it blows it to the sides. I have heard that you can see your target after it goes boom.

It was designed to redirect smoke away from your line of sight, notsomuch for recoil reduction. It might, but nobody brags about it so it can't be much.

I have a brake on a Savage 10ML and it does help with recoil when shooting smokeless, which is what I used most of the time. It still helps with recoil with black powder, but I don't think as much, but then again the gun doesn't recoil nearly as much with black powder either, so it is hard to tell. It also does seem to help with visibility somewhat when using black powder (I am using a scope on it). You may also have some issues when using sabots too. Check out Bad Bull muzzleloaders they have some info on their site about using brakes on front stuffers.

I thought I read something about not running sabot's through brakes, anyone know if that is an issue.
