Did you just buy a MOA chambered in that?? I was looking at that one on gunbroker yesterday....nice piece if that's what you have.

Dan,
I was looking at the MOA, no bids were made. I emailed Rich Mertz for dealer cost ( have FFL ) but as yet have not received a reply> Do you know dealer cost on the MOAs? I've never had one, but am very interested in "trying" one out. Who knows, if I get it, I might even be able to make the MOA shoot in Gillette, WY. A bunch of our fellows on the site will be going!

I've never even handled a MOA...they look nice though. I like a centergrip for my hunting long range guns. The rear grip of the MOA and XP-100R just seems way to long for my tastes.
Dealer cost....I have no clue.

Dan,
I too prefer the center grip for balance, etc.; however, when shooting of a bipod the rear grips present no particular problems and in fact tend to point better.

Agreed...but that also means finding a "longer" plane in which the bipod and bags must be set up. The shorter grip to bipod configuration of the center grips allows for more available field rests...such as tree stumps and rocks. Both of which I use a LOT in the east.
Just another angle to consider.

Argghhhh.......why is it ME that's always the oddball, Lord?
Those, like you guys, who know more, used em more, etc etc..prefer the center grip and the 600 action. I'm aware of the rigidity (is that a word?)of the single shot bench type action and the pluses it gives for accuracy reasons but I had one, it shot great, killed deer great but I never got used to the grip feel..OR the "feel" of working the bolt.
Now if someone rebarreled the rear gripped XP-100R (model 7 action) to the 270 Awesome......I'd be willing to borrow it for awhile. Maybe even make an offer. That would be "awesome". I DID mention I like the name......right?
While the original XPs might be more accurate, Ive shot a ton of model 7s and 700s and have no qualms as to them being "accurate enough" for me and my use.
270 Awesome sounds cool...er awesome, low recoil and have a range good to go in my "neck of the woods". What I do NOT need is another cartridge to consider (yet) so......nope NOT GONNA GO LOOK. LOL! Bet the specs are close to the 6.8 SPC (with throat fixed aka SPC II or "Spec II" length).
yeah.........I want one of them too. Or maybe a 6.8 SPC II...IMPROVED!!*sigh* LOL!! A 6.8 SPCIIAI....!
I gotta stop looking at rounds, that's all there is to it. LOL!

I have handled an MOA, it was Ernie's gun. I visited him one time in Kansas and he let me check it out. I liked the feel of the grip and thought it would make a decent charlie gun with a backpack or a sandbag rest.

Doc; probably need to mail or fax your ffl to get dealer cost. Thought that 270AWSM was sold a few months ago unless the buyer is now reselling it. Hope you can make it to the the shoot this year. Gary/MOA Shooters committee.
