.......if you've Demmy senator(s) to get on their case about this Osamacare BS. After the T-Day holiday they are going to be pushing this and right now it won't go 'cause at least some of the Dummys are smart enough to know. Keep 'em honest and sway the 'tweeners by using the Gov link on this site to send a letter or better yet, call them. Gov health care would be the beginning of the end of freedom.

Here is a GOA link where you can send a form letter in mere seconds:

I doubt that Fed Health care will be the end of freedom. The same things were said about Social Security and Medicaid. Take any program and add Gov and you have a mess. But, my wife has polytheistic Kidneys. We can't change providers and the premiums are killing us. The disease will eventually kill her. Until private health care is willing to reduce their profit margins at the expense of people like my wife I'm OK with the fed's taking over.

It goes much deeper than just "health care", your information can/and will be used against you. Forced premiums and jail if you can't afford them is wrong. I can't afford health care now, and I won't get it free later so I am screwed. Just like millions of other mid-class Americans. If they wanted to subsidize premiiums to make it more affordable I can understand that but they want TOTAL CONTROL and that I cannot accept.

Picture this: You are forced to carry fed care or you go to jail. Fed care, like any other insurance, can set risk levels for the insured. The higher the risk, the higher the premium. Say, low risk fed care is "affordable" at $8,900 per year but "high risk" rate is 50,000. Fed determines that having a firearm in the home is "high risk" and there fore you must pay $50,000 per year or spend 5 years in the pokey.

Real rosy there bro.

Sorry to hear about your wife, I will pray for her.

I don't think the "Sky is Falling" on this issue. I doubt that what you are saying will ever come to pass. I see a lot of people throwing out bits and pieces of the bill but failing to back them up. The same people I see bitching the health bill are some of the same ones who are taking Social Security, Medicare and unemployment insurance...all gov programs that have worked out.

I don't like Gov involvement in my life but the insurance companies screwing over people like you and me have brought this on themselves. A blend of services would most likely work as well as it now.

huntkng,
First, let me say that I'm sorry to hear about your wife's ill health. I agree health insurance rates are way too high for everyone, including me. Many can't afford them, and the pre-existing conditions ban must change to a reasonable allowance of "if you were covered by a plan before, you can change plans with no penalty."

But I have read much of the House Bill (HB3200). If you believe that you will get full coverage at a lower rate than you are currently paying because the government will take you on, you have another think coming. Premiums will go up for both private plans and the government plan (per the Congressional Budget Office, CBO)will be right there with them. The government plan is dependent upon millions more (healthy) young people buying health insurance to subsidize the ill. Many young people can't afford to. Many won't. They will be fined, (not jailed) but at a lower rate than insurance premiums. This is no way to treat citizens.

The rule of thumb is that the elderly (no definition yet) can only be charged 2x the young person's (no definition as yet) rate. Since the boomers will soon out-number the young gen. The government and private companies will have to raise rates even more on "young people" to be able to raise rates to cover all the boomers.

The Bill requires businesses with 50 people or more to provide health insurance or be fined. Right now the fine is 8% of payroll. Trouble is, companies pay close to 15% of payroll for health insurance coverage. So they may choose to drop their employee coverage and pay the fine - save 7% to the bottom line.
Many people will lose their current plan and doctors. With no ability of insurance companies to apply a "prior condition" clause many lower income people will wait until they are ill before they take out insurance. It'll be like trying to run a fire insurance company and all your customer's houses are on fire.

It also does NOT cover approx. 15 million currently uninsured (CBO).

No, this plan is a mess. That's why even the President's own party is balking at moving it forward. That's also why Congress and government employees are EXEMPT from this plan. They don't want in. I see the need to fix the system, but it seems a lot easier to lift the pre-condition clause (with some reasonable control on the "house on fire scenario" such as being insured prior to your move), subsidize the low income folks who can't make payments on a graduated scale, so that help goes up the scale in a diminishing amount, pass torte reform, open the borders for insurance companies to compete with each other, provide tax credits for hospitals buying state-of-the-art equipment, and provide scholarship grants to Medical school students with good grades. More doctors = more competition.

I, like you, hope they do a good job on this. I wish you and your family well.

I feel the same way the health care bill is backwards and does nothing to address the current problems.

Just like the stimulas packages, print money and dump it into a system that is so full of holes that the money ran out on the ground before it did any good.

Thanks NHSHTR,

I've looked over parts of it and have listened to the debate with moderators on both sides. The trouble with my party is that they are like a mother hen; so busy pulling the chicks under themselves and are so negative to every thing the Dem's are doing that they are missing a chance to make it workable. Just so that when (if) Health Care fails they can say...THERE, I told you. This thing is probably going to pass. My party is not as concerned about me and their constituents as they are about looking good for that drug addict Rush. If they would work at being bi-partisan we might have had something that would be good for the country, as it is they would rather let America go down the tubes then work with the other side on ANY issue, not just Health Care.

Just my couple of penny's.

It's the Democrats that are dragging this country "down the tubes", into socialism. It seems that "your" party is my party, and I stand behind my party not being a party to that.
