The wife will be riding horses tomorrow morning instead of sleeping, (She works nights). I should be able to chronograph it then.

OK the wife went horse back riding. I got the Chronograph out and fired a few rounds in the back yard.

6.5 X 30 JDJ Super 14 Contender
Brass: Reformed 30-30
Powder: Winchester 748 38.0 Grains
Primers: Federal
Bullets: Hornady 129 Spiral Points
Velocity @ 50 Deg: 2433 avg

That is in the speed range of the 6.5 X 54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer and 6.5 Carcano Rifle.

The 6.5 JDJ Super 14 "HORNADY RELOADING MANUAL" is maxed out at 2350 with VIHT N-160 with the 129 Spiral Point UNK how conservative Hornady's Reloading Data is on an Ackley Improved style case.

The Hornady 6.5 JDJ Data should be OK to use in the 6.5 X 30, I would think.
