Does anyone know a source for reloading data for the 480 Ruger and 500 s&w with these powders?
It's used and shotguns and magnum pistol loads, but I cant find any data for these. Hopefully it is in some cast bullet manual somewhere.

Thanks,

Bill

Checked all my manuals and nada. My Lyman stops at 45 Colt. I wonder if the new 49th edition would have data?

I think you'll find the 4756 a little to fast for both of thoes cases.

there is a couple of bits of info out there for the 500s&w but it is for 725 gr bullets.

68. N110 (Vihtavuori) *
69. Lil Gun (Hodgdon) *
70. R123 (Norma)
71. H110 (Hodgdon) *
72. 296 (Winchester)*
73. AR2205 (ADI)
74. SR-4759 (IMR)
75. N120 (Vihtavuori)
76. 4227 (IMR)*

*these are powders suitable for the 500 S&W sr-4759 is right in there with the correct speed. Its not too fast and sr-4756 is SLOWER than these.

Nothing specific for those powders; however, Bob Forker ( I believe ) wrote an article in Shooting Times, some years ago, in which he listed those powders as suitable for the 480 Ruger. He did not list any loads for those powders in the article. The burn rate chart from Hornady ( on their website ) shows sr4756 3 steps slower than hs-6 and sr4759 1 step slower than Lil' Gun. Brian Pearce lists a load for the 500 S&W of hs-6, 22.0 gr, with an LBT 440 cast wfngc, a midrange load of 1356 fps in an 8 3/8" barrel Smith, in the Lyman Pistol and Revolver load book, 3rd Ed. Load From a Disk or QuickLoad software would provide loads for those calibers and powders.

Hope this helps!
