Should private individuals be allowed to call in a backround check when making a private sale of a firearm?
As a law abiding gun owner i support all reasonable efforts to keep guns out of the hands of chriminals and wackos.Illeagal use of firearms is the main reason for proposed bans on guns. The more i do to stop criminal and illeagal use of guns the less of a reason their will be to ban gun ownership by law abiding citizens.
If a backround check could be done on the buyer at a private sale without the government collecting unneeded info like sellers name, address, make, model, serial number of gun or evidence the sale was compleated. Could lawfull gun owners help prevent criminals from getting guns and protect leagal gun ownership?
I know when dealing with the government it is never that simple but I thaught I would Post the Idea here and have the holes pointed out by the friendly side.
Lets have it what do you think? how much of a fool am i to think such a thaught?

That would be just one step closer to banning private gun sales altogether, which is one goal the libs are working on.

All the information needed to steal a person's identity is on that form. I don't want just anybody to have access to that.

I'm with the rest of them, maybe if they would lock up and execute the people that aren't supposed to have guns in the first place it wouldn't be a problem. The problem is the justice system is broken but as always rather than fix it and go against the bleeding hearts and dole out sentences that fit the crime, we the law abiding citizens are punished and have to make concessions in our lives to make up for someone that should have been strung up or locked up. We can't even execute anyone in this country using most methods because it's not humane, well the daughter that was raped and murdered or the elderly couple that was beat to death over a couple of bucks by some druggy weren't treated humanely either. There are alot more laws than necessary to keep guns out of the hands of criminals it's just they aren't einforced and when they are the punishments aren't severe enough.

Rod, couldn't have said it better myself. We know the truth, but you can't point out the obvious to those who refuse to look. If existing laws were enforced to the letter we would have a lot less of gun crime. Project Exile is a great example, who can argue against a law that would tack on 5 years to any sentence if a gun is used in a felony, and yet it has been passed in only a few states. Liberals, WTF!!!

Figured this would not go over well and can not say i dissagree.pab1 and s4s4u both have good and valid points of view.
Would you sell a gun to someone (no backround check)who you believed was a chriminal or intended to miss use the gun?
If I suspect criminal intent I would show the perspective buyer the door no sale.

I would never sell a gun to someone I thought was not supposed to have one or that I thought was going to misuse it, in fact I would refuse to sell a gun to someone based on looks. A guy could have the cleanest record in the world but if he's like a nephew of mine and showed covered in body piercings and tats I wouldn't sell it, of course my nephew is also kind of short in the common sense arena which is demonstrated by a body full of holes and of course there was the day he asked if he could borrow my 475's to take shooting. I almost died laughing.

Positively, absolutely NO WAY!! I don't even sell long guns at gun shows. Any gun I buy or sell goes through an FFL--right Rod?
