Just so happens that my travels today would send me passed my club's range...it also happens that I may have scheduled in an extra 45 minutes between appointments!! And somehow the freshly rebarreled XP-100 that I snagged two weeks ago was in the car w/ my range bag!! WOW...isn't it great when the stars align in your favor!!

For those catching up...I recently snagged a XP-100 7-08 (rechambered from the factory 7BR) that was wrapped in a HS Precision stock. Talked to my 'smith and he had a factory Remington .300 Savage barrel in his shop...four days later the .300 barrel was now on the XP action.
I prepped the WW cases and loaded 20 rounds w/ a recipe of Varget/150gr Remington bullets. The XP was topped w/ a Weaver base, Burris Signature Zee Rings and a 7X Burris.
Up to this point...the fun and excitement of a new toy was running wild...you all know the feeling...but after one range session the romance is now over! Turns out I hit the sweet spot load right off the bat. I fired five-two shot groups just to get zeroed at 100yds...the widest pair went a massive .550" ctc while the closest pair went a hair under .200". After getting zeroed 1.5" high at 100yds I fired a quick five round group that went a hair under 1"...I suspect the "massive" group was due to the barrel getting dirty and warm.
I let the barrel cool and used the last five rounds to assault the steel plates at 200yds and 300yds.
Guess it's time to start trolling for another toy.....
