I know I am not a big poster. I have been a forum member that lurks for a few years now. I did want to share my opening day hunt. Those of you that participated in the NY Southern tier firearm opener know what the conditions were. 50 degrees and steady rain ALL DAY.
I stuck it out until 2:00 when during a lull in the rain, a small racked big bodied 6 pt. was seen walking across in front of me. I grabbed my Encore and shooting sticks, and at the right moment let er' rip.
70 yard shot with my 12" Encore 7mm-08 and Burris 2-8X scope. Double lung, ran about 40 yards into the brush and piled up.
After hunting pretty hard during bow season, I was extremely happy with this deer and am glad I have meat in the freezer.
Now I will try to get a doe with my sixguns.
What a great time of year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iknow, I know........This post is worthless without pics. Give me a day or so and I will get them up.
