I asked them around a month ago if they would offer nitride. They said they would but did not have a price yet. Thought about having a 500L built with this finish.

Nice 329 PD! I've considered that revolver 1000 times...just lower on the list than a few others.

That would be an affirmative!

Nice gun! How does it shoot? Should carry very nicely on the hip! Not to mention, it looks really cool!

Jeff460,

looks nice! do you suppose it will add more strength to the rig?

the reason I ask is I have read some stuff about the gun getting beat up over time. but everything on the internet is true ya know.

I will be moving to Wyoming soon and have been thinking about what I will get for a "perfect packing pistol" in grizz country. keeping my options open right now including the 329pd

I only changed out the titanium cylinder because of flame-cutting pictures I saw posted and discussions on other forums with .357 magnum titanium cylinders showing pitting and erosion. I also saw where some were switching the cylinder out for aftermarket stainless versions. Even Smith and Wesson came out with a Alaskan Backpacker 44 with a scandium frame and snub nose barrel with a stainless steel cylinder. So that is why I switched it out. A little more weight yes but more durable in the long run.

The 329PD has a stainless steel heat shield to protect the scandium frame from being affected adversely by the heat and thrust forces of the bullet leaving the cartridge and hitting the forcing cone edge of the stainless-steel lined barrel. It is attached by a screw that also anchors the front of the rear sight. Remove the screw and change out the heat shield when it starts to show wear. It is a concept piece meant to be carried much and shot less. Practice with 44 Special and load the big loads for when in bear country. You will not realize recoil when shooting for your life. Just get familiar with it and keep trying to bring it up and hit what you are aiming at. I love mine and would not trade it off or sale it. It is my CCW for urban carry and my bear medicine when in the rural and wilds. The stainless cylinder is a must change from the titanium though. Unless you just get it cera-koted and keep the titanium cylinder it comes with.
