Great job! Probably used a Bighorn recurve to boot! Anyway, I'm guessing you will use a handgun again, and I like they way you keep the hair out of your eyes.....Congratulations!

That thought keeps coming to mind. More than anything it will depend on what I'm in the mood for when the hunt rolls around.

SUCH HERESY GOING ON HERE, PAB1: TAKE A DEEP BREATH, RELAX, CLEAR YOUR MIND, AND THEN ONLY CONCENTRATE ON WHAT HANDGUN YOU WILL USE FOR THE HUNT.

I HEAR TELL DALL SHEEP IS SUPER GOOD VENISON, WHAT ABOUT BIGHORN SHEEP, HOW ARE THEY FOR TABLE FARE?

A long barreled Flint Lock them, solves the handgun problem and the black powder too.
The choice of what I use every year sometimes comes down to what I have ammo loaded for at the time. The .45 always goes but the other gun can change day to day.I am just glad to have more than one choice.

Too many interests/hobbies between fly fishing/tying, traditional archery, traditional muzzleloaders, handguns and recently lever guns. I tend to focus on one exclusively for a while then shift to another for a while and on and on.

Based on the two I've taken bighorn is my favorite meat. As much as I like elk I'd take bighorn if given a choice.

That thought has crossed my mind too. I hunt small game quite a bit with a .54 cal Plains Pistol using a light 20gr 3F charge. Its accurate with a heavier 45gr 3F Goex charge too, which is just below the guns maximum recommended charge. The 45gr charge using a 224gr .530 ball averages 890fps. I could pick up some velocity using Swiss instead of Goex.

That puts it in the same ballpark as a .45 Colt using a 250gr bullet at 900fps which has killed many deer. Someday I might try it for deer under 20 yards. At the same time I'm not too big on using "low end" charges or rounds for big game. I would have to do a lot of penetration testing before I had faith in it.
