I found out a few days ago that I drew a bighorn ewe tag! I don't have the patience to wait and possibly never draw a ram tag so I put in for ewes. I love sheep hunting and have been fortunate enough to have taken two ewes previously. I took one with a recurve bow and one with a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag.

Since finding out I've been debating about what to use on this hunt. Due to my interest in a variety of weapons it will depend on my mood at the time. I keep thinking about using a .54 cal Lyman Great Plains Rifle. I also keep thinking about my 5" .44 mag BFR, 6" FA .454 Casull or 12" Encore in .454 Casull. Often I'll practice all summer with one gun only to be in the mood for something else when I go hunting.

Anybody else draw tags this year?

Here are the two ewes I took on previous hunts.

The only thing I drew with horns is a buck antelope. I also drew 2 doe antelope and 2 whitetail does.

I didn't draw a limited quota tag for an elk or deer but I can still get a general elk and deer.

Congrats on your ewe tag pab!

Drew nothing in my home state of California, and drew nothing for Oregon either. Hoping to get a pig and maybe a Barbados ram here this next weekend with my 45 Colt Blackhawk.

Congrats on the draw! And congrats on your previous ewe harvests!

You obviously have the skill and patience to work in close for your shots, and the shooting skills with your chosen weapon. The Great plains rifle in .54 would be great, especially if it is a Flint Lock.Luck to you with what ever you chose. And may the Angles not piss in your pan!

You've already got one with a revolver and recurve. Not many ways to top that. I may be partial to handguns, but I'd say use the Lyman. That way you can say you've taken one with a gun, muzzleloader, and bow.
