I know this may not be the correct area to post this but I feel its that important to all hunters.......................
1 hunter worth 1,500 ECO-tourists.....
According to one of the co-owners of an eco-tourism lodge in Timbavati in the Greater Kr?ger National Park, 46 hunters left three times as much money for nature conservation as 24,000 photo tourists in a year. That means that each hunter contributed more than 1,500 photo tourists!
In the light of soaring anti-poaching costs (850% increase in five years) they have now tripled the nature conservation contribution from eco-tourists in Timbavati. So in the future every hunter will "only" be contributing about 500 times as much as every photo tourist in this area...
What do you think the impact on nature of 24,000 photo tourists is compared to 46 hunters?

That doesn't surprise me. "Eco-tourists" don't have to pay license fees, tag fees, or the Pittman-Robertson tax. It would be interesting to see the disparity between hunters' and eco-tourists here in the U.S. Probably about the same, if not greater.

Eco-tourists only go to the tamest parts of the continent. Hunters go to the most remote. All of Africa can't be national park. There's no way that eco-tourism can save anything on its own but the belief that it will, absolutely dooms everything.

Thanks for the useful information. The real danger is that these resource users think they are the answer to saving animals but they are not.
