Today was supposed to be my last deer hunt of the season but due to a really nasty migraine that sent me home from work yesterday, I wasn't in any condition to hunt this morning. Now that deer season is over, its time to really get serious about the predators. I normally carry a rifle and sometimes a shotgun but I always carry my Dan Wesson 15-2 with me. Since today's hunt was supposed to be with the revolver, I'm thinking of making the revolver the dedicated weapon on some of my close-quarters stands. Since I am usually using a rifle with more explosive ammo, I'm wondering what types of .357mag ammo is recommended, would the faster expanding bullets be the more favorable? I have some 110 gr winchester hollowpoints, some 125gr remington golden saber as well as some winchester defense ammo in 130gr .38spec. I'm sure any of these will kill a coyote cleanly but right now thats also where the fur prices are the best.

Heavier bullets that don't expand a lot is best for less fur damage. 158 XTPs don't expand much on little animals, 180 leads will probably do the least damage. I've seen this true on the groundhogs I've taken with them.
110 HPs, 125 Golden Sabers, and "defense" ammo all will expand a lot and give you very big exits. I've shot 2 groundhogs with one shot using 146, 158 gr. HPs (but not the XTP) and had1 1/2" exits.

Thank you for the input. I do have 158gr XTPs I'll stick with since they're what I've been using lately.
