Anyone handled or shot the Taurus Raging Hornet, I'm wanting one really bad for coyote hunting. So much so I would trade my Redhawk for one. I know that they are no longer in production.

They were interesting, but weighed around 82 oz. I believe. The BFR was another hornet. If you can't find a hornet, an interesting idea would be having a .22 jet made. It seems like a simple barrel and cylinder swap, or maybe just a cylinder ream job. Not sure though. It would be a much lighter and handier gun, if that's a concern.

An old school option is the .218 Bee. I believe it's hotter than the hornet and one famous old time mountain lion Hunter had a Colt SAA chambered for it and liked it a bunch for the big cats.

HAVING OWNED AND SHOT MANY 22 CF REVOLVERS MY FIRST CHOICE WOULD BE A 22 K-HORNET. ON ANY OF THE 22 CF CARTRIDGES A LEE FACTORY CRIMP DIE, EVEN ON FACTORY AMMO, HELPS A LOT. A 22 HORNET F/C DIE WILL WORK ON THE K-HORNET, AND A 22 JET WILL WORK ON THE 22 SUPER JET.

I HAVE A 22 HORNET BFR, A HUGE GUN FOR A SIX SHOT, WHICH I DO NOT USE. NOWADAYS I MOSTLY USE A MODEL 53 JET WITH A 22 K-HORNET CYLINDER IN IT AS A "PORCH GUN" AT THE RANCH. NOW THAT I HAVE A 22 JET F/C DIE I AM GOING TO WORK WITH THE 22 SUPER JET.

22 CF REVOLVERS CAN BE FRUSTRATING.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED A 10 INCH 22 HORNET CONTENDER BARREEL?

Rey, I had a S&W K-frame made into a 22 Kay-Chuck which is a slightly shortened K-Hornet that easily beat 22 rim fire mag velocities along with a Jet that suffered from set back.. Always had a soft spot for bottle neck cartridges in revolvers...

JDK, Just saw that article in my files about the lion hunter using the 218 Bee in a SAA....

THE K-CHUK AND K-HORNET ARE EXACTLY THE SAME EXCEPT THE K-CHUK's NECK IS A LITTLE SHORTER, THE SHOULDER IS THE SAME, AND YOU CAN USE K-HORNET DIES TO RELOAD K-CHUK. YOU CAN ALSO SPECIAL ORDER A LEE FACTORY CRIMP DIE FOR THE K-CHUK. IN 22 JET OR 22 LR BARRELS YOU NEED TO USE .222 BULLETS.
